The Lineage

One of the most renowned and respected Qigong masters in China, TaiSigong Yang Meijun, was the 27th generation inheritor of the Dayan system. Grandmaster Michael Tse, our teacher, began by studying Martial Arts in Hong Kong, where he grew up. He went on to study Hard Qigong and was recommended by one of his teachers to TaiSigong Yang. He travelled to mainland China and was accepted as her student. She later authorised him to teach Dayan Qigong.

Grandmaster Michael Tse studied with TaiSigong Wu Chun Yuen of Beijing for 15 years and has renamed the skill in his honour.
Grandmaster Tse introduced Chun Yuen Kung Fu into the Centre’s Qigong syllabus to balance the more gentle exercise of Qigong (Yin) with the more vigorous movements of Kung Fu (Yang).

In 1990 he founded the Tse Qigong Centre in the U.K. as a Centre of Excellence for Qigong and Chinese Martial Arts. The Centre publishes "Qi Magazine" to promote the understanding of Chinese culture and its traditional skills. Grandmaster Tse has trained a new generation of instructors whom he supervises and supports by touring regularly to visit them.

Vera Externest and Jane Pollard have been students of Grandmaster Michael Tse since 1997. After moving to Australia in 2001, with their Sifu’s support, they set up classes in Toowoomba and Brisbane. Grandmaster Tse visits annually to conduct seminars and special workshops for Centre members (see events page).
